SokoBen Help

Game principle

Ben is a hardworking guy. His warehouses are his pride and joy and he's taking care of them all the time. Every box has to stand on one of the marked places.

Your task is to help Ben at his work, pushing all the boxes to the target fields. But be carefull! Ben can only push the boxes one by one, but he can not pull them. So don't push boxes into some corner, where you can't get them out again.

Key control

Use the arrow keys to move Ben into all four directions. If Ben is standing in front of a box, he will push the box, if there's a free space behind the box.

Mouse control

You can also move Ben using the mouse. Just click on a field, where you want Ben to move to. If there's a way to that field, Ben will take the shortest way he can find to get there. Ben has been a boy scout!

To push a box, first select the box to push by clicking on it. Then click on the field, where Ben should push the box to. The target field has to be in straight line of the box, since Ben can only straight forward in one of four directions. There may be no other box or wall in the way. If you want Ben to push the box around some corners, you'll have to tell him by moving the box in separate steps. In the end, Ben can not do everything by himself!

After the push, the box keeps selected, so Ben can push it again right away. To deselect the box, either click on another box to change selection or simply click again on the same box.

Special keys

Press U to undo a move. This will undo single (keystroke) moves as well as complete sequences from mouse movements. Undo is unlimited right back until to the level's start.

R will instantly restart the current level.

Press A to automically replay your solution, after you solved a level (Autoplay).

Press P to pause or resume autoplay.

Press ESCape to cancel any autoplay sequences (mouse control, LURD play, autoplay).

Press + to get to the next level in the current collection.

Press - to get to the previous level in the current collection.

Level Options

The current level can be influenced with the controlbar at the top. Beside of listboxes to select the level collection and the level in the current level collection, there are listboxes to rotate the level by 90, 180 or 270 degrees or mirror it on X- and/or Y-axle anytime.

Autoplay

Using the Autoplay and Pause buttons, you can control the automatic replay of your solution of a solved level.

Next to those buttons is a listbox which controls the speed of all automatic sequences in steps per seconds.

LURD command line

LURD means left-up-right-down and is a standard to describe Sokoban control sequences. The letters describe the direction of movement, with lowercase letters for moves and uppercase letters for pushes.

The LURD command line serves for in- and outputs of LURD sequences. So, you can control Ben over the LURD command line as well. However, other than controlling Ben by keys or mouse, LURD commands are not relative to rotation and mirroring of the level, since a solution sequence for a level is always the same, no matter how it is rotated or mirrored. After you solved a level, your solution sequence will be displayed in the LURD command line, so you can copy it from there. On the other hand, you can, e.g., paste a solution sequence you got from someone else to the command line and run the level automatically.
